چکیده
Excess school segregation is a phenomena observed across many countries and one common explanation from the literature hypothesis that parents might want to live in diverse neighbourhood, but when it comes their children, they are less tolerant with respect compositions. This study uses an agent-based model where households face residential decisions depending on neighbourhood compositions make choices based distance Results indicate increased relative can be large parts of parameter space, even tolerance for belonging other group equal Our results demonstrate asymmetric preferences not requirement excess show combined play key role this increase.

A Spatially Extended Model for Residential Segregation
In this paper we analyze urban spatial segregation phenomenon in terms of the income distribution over a population, and inflationary parameter weighting the evolution of housing prices. For this, we develop a discrete, spatially extended model based in a multi–agent approach. In our model, the mobility of socioeconomic agents is driven only by the housing prices. Agents exchange location in or...
متن کاملPatterns of Residential Segregation
The spatial distribution of income shapes the structure and organisation of cities and its understanding has broad societal implications. Despite an abundant literature, many issues remain unclear. In particular, all definitions of segregation are implicitely tied to a single indicator, usually rely on an ambiguous definition of income classes, without any consensus on how to define neighbourho...

Racial and Ethnic Residential Segregation in the United States: 1980-2000 119 Massey and Denton (1988) used an extensive literature search and cluster analysis to identify 20 different indexes of segregation and classify them into five key dimensions of segregation. Basically, evenness involves the differential distribution of the subject population, exposure measures potential contact, concent...

Waste management is a problem due to the ineffective mana...
متن کاملTipping and Residential Segregation: A Unified Schelling Model
This paper presents a Schelling-type checkerboard model of residential segregation formulated as a spatial game. It shows that although every agent prefers to live in a mixed-race neighborhood, complete segregation is observed almost all of the time. A concept of tipping is rigorously defined, which is crucial for understanding the dynamics of segregation. Complete segregation emerges and persi...
